What do you know about your customers?

It is very easy to say you’re running a business when everyday you show up to your work-space and you’ve got a team working with you but in the real sense not have a business that would succeed.

This is not because you’re not putting in the hard work, but because you’re just to busy to understand what your customers really want from you.

Your customers have secret desires and they are longing to share every form of loyalty to you if you meet them.

Unfortunately, most brands and businesses do not know or care about them but to just push products at their faces to sell.

If you want to win your customers loyalty, here are the secret things you need to know about them in order to take advantage of;

  1. Customers want to be recognized;

I know it may sound weird to you but just like our simple human nature putting itself to play in instances where we want someone we admire to show us they recognize us.

From a simple greeting, to a wave of hand at parties or random places, we as humans tend to feel a sense of warmth if people we know give us that form of recognition.

This also applies in business and it may not be literal in many cases. Here’s a good strategy the coca-cola brand which explains this; i believe you’re aware of the campaign where names of random persons were written on coca-cola bottles and cans.

It brought more loyalty to the brand and increased purchase of the drink. You must find a way to tell your customers that you’re aware of their existence and their patronage to your product or service.

2. Customers want you to truly listen:

brands fail at this more than the number of times Thomas Edison built the light bulb. If your business is not built on communication with your customers, I mean, if there’s no feedback loop with them, then you are putting your business in one grave danger.

Customers have pains, they have worries about your product and observations. They have a lot of issues they wish you could listen to them which they want your product to solve for them; taste, style, size, mode of communication.

What you need to do as a brand is to create a feedback loop where you can communicate with them and make it as simple as possible. It could be a social media handle or an email marketing channel. Know which works best for your brand.

3. Customers want you to show you care for them;

They don’t say this but they want it. How do you care for someone? What would they do in return if they discover you really care for them?

Customers have fickle desires and they stay attached to brands that meet them. While it is true that it is very easy for customers to switch loyalty and jump from one brand to the other, the unrevealed truth is that these customers do not really find a home in such brands else they would have stayed.

Look, customers want a home and they need it badly but some do not even know. However, they’d only want to live with a brand that makes a display of care to them.

Retaining customers is not rocket science and if you retain them, it shows they really love you. I want you to begin with these examples and watch the results.
